Update with what's going in Tech world.

Microsoft has once again had to waste its precious time dealing with tiresome internet rumours regarding Blu-ray drives, telling us all in no uncertain terms that its Xbox 360 is definitely not going down the Blu-ray player road.

The latest in the long, long line of "Blu-ray Xbox 360" rumours surfaced earlier in the week, when bewildering Microsoft Big Man Steve Ballmer told press people that Blu-ray drives would be available in the form of "accessories" - which many took to mean an Xbox 360 Blu-ray attachment was in development in Microsoft's office somewhere.

However, Microsoft gaming mouthpiece Major Nelson issued an extremely specific denial overnight, as Team Microsoft once again had to have lots of fire-fighting meetings to address Blu-ray confusion.

"I wanted to clear something up. Steve was referring to Blu-Ray accessories for the PC" said the Major. "As we have said in the past, we have no plans to introduce a Blu-Ray drive for the Xbox 360".

He then cleverly turned his statement into a bit of an ad for Xbox 360... "In fact, the future of home entertainment starts very soon when Xbox 360 becomes the first and only console to offer instant-on 1080p streaming HD movies. With a library of thousands of TV shows and movies to choose from, Xbox 360 owners can instantly watch the movies they want, when they want, in the highest form of high definition."

So, until next time this rumour gets dragged up, probably in early December if it sticks to its current once-every-eight-weeks re-emergence schedule, that's the end of it.

If you want Blu-ray on your Xbox 360, the only solution is to buy a Blu-ray player then physically put it "on" your Xbox 360.
