Atom N450-based netbooks on January 11, 2010

Netbooks based on the next-generation mobile platform, Intel Pine Trail will be announced on January 11, 2010.

Recall, Main component of Intel Pine Trail is Atom Pineview processor, which is made using 45nm technology. It will have an integrated memory controller and integrated graphics core. Intel is preparing two Pineview mobile versions of N450 and N470 with a frequency of 1.66GHz and 1.83 GHz respectively.

According to network sources, subject to agreement with Intel, netbook producers cannot make any formal announcements relating to the Pine Trail, until January 10. Meanwhile, netbooks with Atom N450 in the first half of January are going to present such well-known companies such as Acer, ASUS, Lenovo and MSI.

Depending on the model of the computers Pine Trail platform will be offered with three operating systems; Windows 7 Starter, Moblin Linux and Windows XP Home Edition. Compared with the current Atom netbooks, new computers will be characterized by an increased battery life, since Pine Trail provides a 20% energy savings (lower power consumption).

According to available information, the cost of the new Atom N450-based netbooks will begin with $250-$300.
