Microsoft tries to lure gamers to renovated Xbox Live
As if Microsoft wasn’t happy with having a record-breaking two million users online at once last week, it’s now allowing Xbox owners to play games online and access exclusive Gold content for free for a limited time.

In the past month Microsoft has added Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm, Zune Marketplace, and Sky Player to the Xbox Live roster and they hope that their renovations will tempt Xbox owners to subscribe to the Xbox Live Gold service.

For those in Europe, the Gold service will be free of charge between 25 November and 30 November. All those outside the EU will only get the service from 20 November to 23 November.

Meanwhile, PS3 fans will be quick to point out that the PlayStation Network has always been free.

So if you have the sudden urge to humiliate a whiney American adolescent on Halo or just to challenge your mates to a game of FIFA 10, put the dates in your diary now. Stay tuned as we’ll give you the complete rundown of Xbox Live’s new services soon.
